PRP Injections & Regenerative Medicine at Stem Cell & PRP Institute of L.A.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy harnesses your own blood’s healing power to treat many health issues. We draw a small sample of your blood, spin it in a centrifuge, and concentrate the platelets – the healing cells that release growth factors and anti-inflammatory factors. This concentrated PRP is then injected into the injured or diseased area (joints, tendons, nerves, or skin) to accelerate repair. Because PRP comes from you, there is virtually no risk of rejection or allergy. Injections at our clinic are guided by a portable ultrasound machine, ensuring the PRP is placed exactly at the injury site. This precision improves results. Under Dr. Nourparvar’s care – an expert with 10+ years in regenerative medicine – each injection is tailored for your needs.

Common conditions treated with PRP include:

  • Tendon and ligament injuries (e.g. tennis elbow, Achilles tendinitis, rotator cuff injuries). Research shows chronic tendon injuries heal faster and with less pain when PRP is used. For example, patients with tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) experienced significantly better pain relief and recovery with PRP compared to standard treatments.
  • Joint pain and osteoarthritis (especially knees and shoulders). PRP injections have been shown to reduce arthritis pain and improve joint function. In knee osteoarthritis, studies report that PRP can relieve pain and restore function better than traditional treatments like steroid or hyaluronic-acid shots. (PRP’s growth factors may help regenerate cartilage and reduce inflammation.)
  • Neuropathic pain and nerve injuries. PRP is being studied for nerve damage. In peripheral neuropathy (nerve pain from diabetes), a controlled trial found that ultrasound-guided PRP injections around the nerves significantly reduced pain and numbness. Patients reported much lower pain scores and improved nerve function up to 6 months after PRP, compared to controls. PRP’s growth factors likely promote nerve healing. We offer PRP for nerve entrapment syndromes (like carpal tunnel) and other neuropathies as part of our pain management services.
  • Chronic wounds and ulcers. For hard-to-heal wounds (like diabetic foot ulcers), PRP can speed closure and healing. A recent review of clinical trials showed that adding PRP to standard ulcer care greatly improved wound closure rates and healing speed, versus standard care alone. In practice, we’ve seen faster recovery of stubborn scars and ulcers with PRP dressings or injections, thanks to the enhanced tissue regeneration.

PRP for Men’s Health

We also offer PRP for male-specific issues:

  • Hair restoration (male/female pattern hair loss). Androgenetic alopecia (pattern baldness) often responds well to PRP. Multiple studies report that scalp PRP injections significantly increase hair count and thickness. In fact, recent trials found PRP to be “highly effective” for hair regrowth. PRP works well alongside traditional treatments: combining PRP with minoxidil or finasteride boosts results, and in some studies PRP alone outperformed those therapies. Patients typically need a series of monthly PRP sessions for maximal hair density.
  • Erectile Dysfunction (ED). We provide PRP “P-Shot” therapy for men with mild-to-moderate ED. A double-blind clinical trial found that men receiving PRP into the male genitalia saw significantly improved erectile function compared to placebo. At 6 months, 69% of the PRP-treated men achieved a meaningful improvement in the IIEF erectile function score, versus only 27% of controls. PRP appears safe (no serious side effects) and may work by improving blood flow and nerve function in the male genitalia. While research is ongoing, PRP offers a regenerative option for men seeking improved function.

Cosmetic & Aesthetic PRP Treatments

PRP is widely used in cosmetic medicine because its growth factors promote collagen remodeling and healing. At our clinic we use PRP for:

  • Facial rejuvenation (wrinkles, volume loss, dark circles). Injecting PRP into the skin can improve tone and texture. Clinical reviews show that PRP treatment (often combined with microneedling or laser) leads to noticeable improvements in facial aging in most patients. For example, a systematic review found that nearly all studies reported significant reduction of wrinkles, improved skin elasticity, and reduction of dark spots after PRP. Patients enjoy subtle but natural rejuvenation without surgery.
  • Acne and scar treatment. PRP accelerates healing of acne scars and other scars. When used with microneedling or fractional lasers, PRP significantly enhances collagen production and scar remodeling. In one review, PRP (alone or as an adjunct) improved acne scars and even stretch marks in most cases. We often inject or apply PRP over scars to improve color and texture, leading to smoother, softer skin.
  • Hair restoration (scalp). As noted above, PRP is also a cosmetic service for hair thinning. Women with thinning hair benefit from PRP scalp injections much like men do, stimulating dormant follicles and reducing hair loss.
